Project
Researchers' Night - CLoSER
is an annual evening event held in Turin and other European cities, where the scientific community engages with the public to showcase the importance of its work.
The event is inspired by the European Union initiative, “CLoSER” (Cementing Links between Science&society toward Engagement and Responsibility).
Project goals
Spreading the word about scientific research.
The main objective of the event is to connect the world of research, universities, and researchers with the general public, showcasing what research can achieve, the goals that have been reached, and those that are yet to come. These values are conveyed through the brand identity.
Creative Process
Concept and slogan
To convey the values of Researchers’ Night, I decided to combine two symbols:
- The microscope symbolises the spirit of research: the desire to change our perspective and examine things that would otherwise remain unknown.
We invite society to do exactly what researchers do every day: observe research closely, including by interacting with researchers, which will be possible on 29 September. - The moon lights the way at night and is also one of the greatest symbols of what research can help us to achieve. It represents the importance and goals of research.
This reasoning led to the decision to create a collage combining the two symbols with the slogan “la ricerca, vista da vicino” (a word play that could be translated as: “A close-up look at the research”).
